    Thousands unable to make calls as EE and BT networks down

    1000’s of EE and BT prospects have reported they’re unable to make or obtain calls because the cell phone community faces an outage.

    Outages tracker Downdetector, which depends on self-reported consumer knowledge, confirmed over 2,500 EE prospects experiencing outages at 1400 BST, with many additionally reporting points with different networks.

    Nevertheless, Vodafone and Three have confirmed to the BBC they don’t have community points.

    A spokesperson from BT, which owns EE, apologised and stated the agency was “at the moment addressing a difficulty impacting our providers”.

    “We’re working urgently to repair this situation and can present an additional replace as quickly as potential,” they stated.

    Different networks have seen spikes in experiences of outages on Downdetector – however these are more likely to be prospects from networks unable to connect with EE or BT telephone numbers.

    Social media customers have been posting a couple of lack of providers of each EE and BT cellular and landline providers.

    BT Group has greater than 30 million prospects within the UK and made £20.4bn income within the final monetary yr.

    The problem could have additionally impacted some prospects of cell phone operators which “piggyback” on EE’s community, with 1pMobile saying it was conscious of some points “affecting a small variety of prospects”.

    “We apologise for any inconvenience induced and the EE community engineers are engaged on the difficulty at the moment,” it stated.
