Groningen-based BioTech startup QT Sense has raised €4 million to speed up Quantum Nuova, their platform that makes use of quantum expertise to trace mobile stress inside particular person cells in actual time – enabling scientists to look at mobile processes as they occur.

The funding combines a €3 million Seed spherical led by Cottonwood Expertise Fund, alongside follow-on funding from the startup’s current VC investor, QDNL Participations, and an angel investor. As well as, they secured a €600k ONCO-Q grant and €400k by the Quantum Ahead Problem.

This follows 2025’s €6 million increase, as covered by EU-Startups.

QT Sense’s CEO, Dr Deepak Veeregowda says selecting Cottonwood was intentional – and significant: “Cottonwood backs actual DeepTech. Their conviction in breakthrough {hardware} permits us to maneuver quick and ship Quantum Nuova to scientists and drug discovery researchers who want it. Quantum sensing reveals elementary biochemical processes that have been invisible till now – it is a scientific shift, not an incremental step. We’re constructing a platform that works each day in actual labs, with scale, reliability, and seamless integration at its core.”

Alain le Loux, normal accomplice at Cottonwood Expertise Fund, stated: “QT Sense is precisely the form of onerous science firm we search for – deeply disruptive expertise rooted in world-class analysis, with the potential to basically change how we perceive and deal with illness. We’re proud to guide this funding and help QT Sense in remodeling quantum sensing from a lab breakthrough right into a scalable, real-world platform for drug discovery. We’re very happy that Cottonwood is backed by the NOM and Innovatiefonds Groningen to help the Dutch BioTech ecosystem.”

Based in 2024, QT Sense is devoted to innovating biomedical analysis by the facility of quantum mechanics. With a decade-long collaboration on the College Medical Middle Groningen (UMCG), their workforce has performed experimentation utilising diamond magnetometry and confocal microscopy on residing organisms.

Constructing upon their analysis, QT Sense has developed Quantum Nouva, a diagnostic and analysis device. Quantum Nouva is particularly designed to deal with the challenges posed by oxidative stress-induced well being circumstances corresponding to most cancers, male infertility, immune response issues, sepsis, and arthritis.

Whereas conventional strategies examine frozen tissue or lifeless cells, QT Sense’s Quantum Nuova platform measures real-time biochemical exercise in residing cells and tissues.

Utilizing ultra-sensitive fluorescent nanodiamond quantum sensors, Quantum Nuova detects oxidative stress, metabolic shifts, and free radical kinetics – dynamic alerts that drive illness however have remained invisible till now – with single-cell precision.

With this dwell view of cell behaviour, researchers can see how cells react to medicine, adapt to emphasize, and diverge into hidden subpopulations.

The expertise has already been used to show the mechanism of motion of FDA-approved drug compounds. With new ONCO-Q grant funding, it’ll now be utilized to colorectal most cancers.

Quantum Nuova will generate the primary practical maps of oxidative stress and metabolic vulnerabilities in colorectal tumour fashions, laying the groundwork for brand spanking new diagnostics and therapeutic methods.

Ton van ‘t Noordende, normal accomplice at QDNL Participations, says: “As the primary investor in QT Sense, we have now seen Quantum Nuova evolve from its beginnings as a daring concept on the intersection of quantum sensing and life sciences. At present’s spherical exhibits how rapidly that imaginative and prescient is translating into an actual discovery platform for oncology and drug growth. With a workforce that completely blends scientific experience with technique execution, QT Sense is precisely the form of foundational quantum firm we goal to help early: world-class science, clear medical and industrial pull, and the potential to redefine how biology is finished within the lab.”

This Seed funding permits QT Sense to remodel Quantum Nuova from a prototype right into a ready-to-deploy discovery platform.

Enhancements in {hardware} robustness, throughput, and built-in analytics will put together the system for real-world use. Early-access models will quickly be positioned with strategic companions, enabling mechanism-of-action research, practical heterogeneity profiling, and label-free readouts throughout many samples.
