Since Broadcom acquired VMware in November 2023, quite a few VMware customers have sought to reduce or end their reliance on VMware applied sciences. The most typical drivers for migrations are that VMware is getting too expensive; customers are being pressured to bundle merchandise; the corporate ended perpetual licenses; and VMware has turn out to be tougher to work with after Broadcom culled channel partners.

Broadcom’s technique has made VMware unaffordable or impractical for many small- to medium-size companies (SMBs) and narrowed VMware’s focus to enterprise-size clients.

Nutanix hasn’t specified how most of the clients that it acquired from VMware are SMBs or enterprise-sized; though, adoption is said to be strongest amongst mid-market clients as Nutanix additionally tries wooing bigger clients, typically by beginning with partial deployments.

Throughout this week’s press briefing, Ramaswami reportedly mentioned that a few of the clients that moved from VMware to Nutanix throughout the latter’s most up-to-date fiscal quarter represented Nutanix’s “strongest quarterly new emblem additions in eight years.”

“Many of the logos got here from our typical VMware migrations on to the [hyperconverged infrastructure] platform,” he mentioned.

Through the Nutanix convention, Brandon Shaw, Nutanix VP and head of know-how providers, mentioned that Western Union has been migrating from VMware to Nutanix for six months, The Register reported. The monetary providers firm is transferring 900 to 1,200 purposes throughout 3,900 cores.
