SurrealDB, a UK firm growing a multi-model, AI-native database, has secured a further €19 million ($23 million) in Sequence A funding, bringing the corporate’s whole funding to-date (together with Seed) to €37 million ($44 million).

Chalfen Ventures and Start Capital be part of current buyers FirstMark and Georgian on this Sequence A extension, bringing the collection whole to €32 million ($38 million). This follows 2024’s  €18.6 million increase, as reported by EU-Startups.

Tobie Morgan Hitchcock, co-founder and CEO at SurrealDB says: “This recent funding demonstrates a rising degree of pleasure for our category-defining, developer-friendly database. Chalfen Ventures and Start Capital have joined this spherical on account of our robust momentum in real-world utilization, and clear path to large-scale manufacturing.”

SurrealDB’s Sequence A extension comes amid sustained funding throughout Europe in AI-native infrastructure, agent platforms and developer-focused tooling.

Within the UK, London-based Overmind secured €2.3 million in Seed funding to construct a supervision layer for AI brokers in regulated sectors, whereas Stanhope AI raised €6.7 million to advance adaptive AI programs. Additionally within the UK, Nscale attracted roughly €936 million to scale AI cloud and information centre infrastructure.

Elsewhere in Europe, Sweden’s Ivy Interactive raised €917k to speed up AI-powered inner developer instruments, Finland’s Agileday secured €6.4 million to construct an AI working platform, and Germany’s Blockbrain closed a €17.5 million Sequence A to develop enterprise-grade AI brokers.

Further rounds embody UK-based Toyo, which raised €3.6 million for safe AI brokers, Sweden’s Lovable with a €281 million Sequence B to scale its AI-native utility platform, Prague-based Ankar, which raised €17 million for AI-driven mental property software program, and Bandits, which secured €400k to streamline AI integration workflows.

Taken collectively, these 2025–2026 rounds quantity to roughly €1.27 billion in disclosed funding throughout adjoining AI infrastructure, agent and developer tooling segments, reflecting continued capital allocation towards platforms that underpin autonomous programs, information orchestration and AI-native utility growth.

Inside this context 0 and alongside a number of UK-based friends – SurrealDB’s expanded €32 million Sequence A positions it inside a broader European funding cycle centered on foundational AI infrastructure and built-in information platforms designed to assist production-grade, agent-driven programs.

Mike Chalfen, Founder at Chalfen Ventures and incoming Director of SurrealDB, says: “Each compute period requires a brand new database paradigm. We’re within the AI period, however most formidable enterprise AI initiatives stall. They want a knowledge platform that makes unprecedentedly large-scale contextual data accessible to agentic programs, in a means that’s synchronised throughout information sources, quick, and safe. SurrealDB is that platform. It meets the wants of each AI brokers and enterprise information governance.

“It’s the greatest on-ramp for firms trying to get native AI initiatives off the bottom, and I imagine that it could actually form what it means for a enterprise to be agent-ready.”

Based in 2022, SurrealDB is a contemporary, cloud-native, multi-model database constructed to energy the way forward for real-time and AI-native purposes. With assist for structured querying, graph traversal, embedded enterprise logic, and now MCP-based agent reminiscence, SurrealDB goals to simplify information infrastructure with out compromising on energy, scale, or developer expertise.

The funding extension comes as SurrealDB 3.0 is launched underneath Normal Availability (GA) as essentially the most steady, performant, and enterprise-ready launch of the favored database.

The corporate explains that AI Brokers want a unified view of state (semantic context, structured information, and sturdy reminiscence) however battle to recollect information persistently, perceive relationships, and to maintain context and reminiscence – significantly when information measurement and complexity grows. SurrealDB 3.0 is reportedly the one database to allow first-class agent reminiscence and context graphs contained in the database, so fashions run subsequent to the information, context stays synchronised, and agent logic stays easy.

The brand new funding will assist speed up product maturity and adoption – particularly round reliability, efficiency, safety, cloud, and enterprise readiness. SurrealDB can even broaden its crew to scale its cloud providing and deepen assist for manufacturing deployments.

Justin Foley, VP of Engineering at Later says: “Each integration you carry is a compounding tax on velocity and a ceiling on what you possibly can construct. SurrealDB collapses your information infrastructure into one. On that basis, we constructed autonomous AI capabilities that may have been unattainable on a standard stack. Simplicity compounds into every little thing you construct subsequent.”

SurrealDB 3.0 is a next-generation database, in-built Rust, and is designed to unify a number of information fashions right into a single, highly effective answer. It combines relational, doc, graph, time-series, vector, search, geospatial and key-value information varieties with real-time capabilities. This permits builders to construct AI purposes sooner and extra effectively.

That is vital as a result of juggling a number of databases, and sophisticated API layers to combine them, reduces velocity, will increase complexity and price. Consequently, AI Brokers don’t have the precise information, context or reminiscence to generate related outcomes.

SurrealDB 3.0 strikes past storing information: changing into the muse for agent reminiscence and intelligence. As builders construct more and more autonomous programs, the road between information, logic, and notion blurs. SurrealDB 3.0 evolves from a multi-model database right into a multi-modal platform for AI brokers – one that may perceive, recall, and prolong its personal context.

SurrealDB 3.0 additionally handles structured information alongside photos, audio, and paperwork – queryable inside SurrealQL. Enhanced vector search andindexing let brokers retailer and retrieve embeddings with millisecond precision.

As adoption has grown, the corporate says builders are asking for a extra predictable, extensible, and expressive technique to construct with SurrealDB. 3.0 brings a refined mannequin that’s less complicated to cause about and sooner to construct on. Builders can now outline customized API endpoints instantly inside the database, handle advanced workflows by client-side transactions, and specific logic safely with Computed Fields and File References.
