    Cross-party group of US Senators push for ‘urgent action’ on rise in youth sports gambling

    5 US Senators, led by Republican Katie Britt and Democrat Dick Durbin, have revealed a letter urging action against youth gambling.

    Britt and Durbin have collectively led a cross-party letter with Senators Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), and Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), addressed to the US Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention. It pushes for motion to be taken to check and deal with what they name an “alarming rise” in sports activities playing amongst younger folks, with a give attention to doable destructive impacts on teenagers and younger adults.

    “We consider policymakers and American households need to know the extent to which our kids are participating in probably addictive and detrimental habits,” continued the Senators within the letter.

    Particularly, the group of Senators requested the CDC to develop and embrace questions on playing in its Youth Threat Conduct Surveillance System, which gauges dangers to younger folks’s well being each two years. This could acquire knowledge for each policymakers and households on how and to what extent playing could possibly be harming younger folks throughout the US.
