    The German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung (SZ) says funds value within the area of 10 billion euros (£8.6bn) have needed to be blocked, after PayPal’s fraud-checking system failed.

    It mentioned funds had been paused on Monday when lenders reported thousands and thousands of suspicious direct debits from the cost agency.

    The DSGV confirmed to the BBC there had been “incidents involving unauthorized direct debits initiated by PayPal towards varied credit score establishments”.
