Valencia-based DeepTech startup Voltrac has formally launched its autonomous, electrical tractor platform designed for agriculture and frontline logistics, together with €2 million in funding.

The funding noticed participation from FoodLabs and Antler.

“We’re not simply constructing a greater tractor. We’re creating a brand new paradigm of autonomous, software-driven floor automobiles,” stated Thomas Hubregtsen, CEO of Voltrac.

Based in 2024 by aerospace engineer Francisco Infante Aguirre and DeepTech operator Thomas Hubregtsen, Voltrac is creating a “first rules redesign“ – an method that not depends on legacy mechanical programs, reimagining the tractor as a modular, software-defined car optimised for simplicity, reliability, and autonomy.

Aguirre grew up in his household’s agricultural implement enterprise, Aguirre Agricola, lively in over 25 international locations, and later engineered propulsion for eVTOLs and supersonic planes. Thomas beforehand built-in AI use circumstances in BMW’s future fleet, constructed quantum AI programs at Google X, and Co-founded Extropic to construct thermodynamic AI programs.

“Farming was constructed for a world that modifications slowly, however with pesticide-resistant pests and unpredictable climates we have to adapt quick. Our tractors be taught as they work,” stated Francisco, CTO. “Mastering new challenges like resistant weeds or heatwaves rapidly.”

The spine of agriculture is the tractor. Whereas the respective challenges and complexities have elevated tremendously, essentially the most used device nonetheless depends on engines with advanced drivetrain that’s costly, inclined to interrupt down, and emission heavy.

Voltrac’s {hardware} method goals to eradicate this drivetrain through the use of distributed electrical propulsion through per-wheel motors. This reportedly cuts 70% of advanced tractor elements, decreasing upkeep complexity and operational prices by about 30% yearly.

What Voltrac say units them aside is its method to software program.

In its first wave, they’re automating the driving of the car, in addition to offering an open platform that enables third events to entry information and actuators in a sandboxed atmosphere to automate implements and different units surrounding the tractor.

However Voltrac’s autonomous programs don’t simply concentrate on driving – the true worth is unlocked by integrating every tractor in an overarching Reinforment Studying system with a good suggestions loop. This automates the expansion of vegetation to adapt to new crops, climates, and terrains throughout Europe’s numerous farms.

Voltrac’s agricultural background permits for adaptability to different tough terrains. With the addition of a flatbed, Electrical Magnetic Interference (EMI) safety and interceptor drones it’s able to silently lifting 4,000kgs to re-supply entrance traces, and course of AI compute for the complete platoon.

“We imagine industry-defining options emerge the place robotics, AI, and demanding infrastructure converge. Voltrac isn’t simply optimising agriculture and protection logistics. They’re redefining what autonomous automobiles can obtain, setting a brand new normal for effectivity and flexibility,” stated Christophe Maire, Managing Companion at Atlantic Labs & FoodLabs.”

With dual-use in agriculture and protection, Voltrac targets each the €70 billion agri-tractor market and the €30 billion army logistics area. The corporate is in discussions with NATO departments, and along with companion Aguirre Agricola operating joint gross sales occasions at agricultural cooperatives.

It’s actively testing and on monitor for first buyer deliveries in Q1 2026. With a purpose to scale their manufacturing capabilities, they’re planning one other financing spherical later this yr.
