    Microsoft to Drop Free VPN Feature From 365 Subscription This Month

    Microsoft plans to take away its free VPN characteristic from the Microsoft 365 subscription later this month. The change will take impact after Feb. 28, seemingly because of an absence of client adoption.

    “We routinely consider the utilization and effectiveness of our options,” the corporate stated on its website. “As such, we’re eradicating the privateness safety characteristic and can put money into new areas that may higher align to buyer wants.”

    Identification safety, theft prevention and credit score monitoring options will proceed. The change was first reported by Windows Central. 

    A consultant for Microsoft did not instantly reply to a request for remark.

    The software, which was added to the Defender app in 2023 for Microsoft 365 prospects, allowed customers to encrypt their web visitors and conceal their IP handle when linked to public Wi-Fi or an untrusted community, the place knowledge and id could possibly be in danger. Customers might flip it on and off with a single click on.
