AlixLabs, a Lund-based semiconductor startup specialising in Atomic Layer Etching (ALE) know-how, has introduced the closing of its €15 million Sequence A within the first quarter of 2026, following a strategic funding from Stephen Industries, a Finnish funding firm.

In November 2025, AlixLabs introduced that International Mind and key institutional buyers had subscribed to its Sequence A to the tune of €14.1 million, with the distinction to the €15 million whole remaining open till the primary quarter of 2026.

“Stephen Industries brings deep industrial experience and a confirmed skill to scale firms in adjoining know-how domains. Kustaa’s expertise with Picosun is very priceless as we transfer from improvement towards broader commercialisation of our APS platform,” mentioned Jonas Sundqvist, CEO of AlixLabs.

Based in 2019, AlixLabs claims to be the world’s solely pure-play ALE firm. Spun off from Lund College in Sweden, its mission is to make manufacturing of the semiconductors within the ångström (Å) period extra accessible, sustainable and inexpensive.

It’s a Swedish semiconductor business provider with gear and processes able to manufacturing nanostructures with attribute sizes smaller than 20 nanometers. It allows energy-efficient fabrication of buildings past the decision limits of optical and electron beam lithography, via APS™ (Atomic Pitch Splitting).

In line with the corporate, as chip complexity will increase, so does the associated fee for each design and manufacture. AlixLabs claims to offer a number of ALE-based options for atomic-level processing that cut back the variety of course of steps required to fabricate a chip whereas growing throughput.

The startup states that every one its options combine seamlessly into current manufacturing workflows, making it extra inexpensive to progress towards the ångstrom (Å) period. By utilising ALE, semiconductor firms can cut back consumption of energy and water whereas decreasing emissions.

“AlixLabs’ processes are designed to be used on 300 millimetre (12-inch) logic and DRAM silicon wafers, together with FinFET and GAAFET (nanowire). They’re equally at residence in 150 and 200-millimetre wafers for energy electronics on gallium nitride (GaN),” defined the corporate.

AlixLabs states that this funding marks a strategic milestone for the corporate because it continues to develop its proprietary ALE options, significantly its flagship APS™ (Atomic Pitch Splitting) know-how, which is aimed toward enabling extra exact, environment friendly, and cost-effective semiconductor fabrication.

A serious side of the partnership is Kustaa Poutiainen from Stephen Industries, whose background in creating and increasing deep-tech companies gives substantial strategic profit. Poutiainen was instrumental within the development of Picosun, a Nordic Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) firm that rose to worldwide prominence. Since ALD and ALE are intently associated applied sciences, his expertise is very pertinent to AlixLabs’ goals.

“AlixLabs operates in a extremely promising house inside semiconductor course of know-how. Having seen firsthand how ALD advanced from a distinct segment innovation to a vital business normal, I see robust parallels with ALE. AlixLabs has the potential to observe an identical trajectory,” mentioned Kustaa Poutiainen, Chairperson and President of Stephen Industries.

The information funding shall be used to speed up product improvement, broaden technical capabilities, and strengthen partnerships with semiconductor producers.
