    Former unregistered NDIS director faces 15-year jail term for alleged $858k misuse

    The previous director of an Australian Nationwide Incapacity Insurance coverage Scheme (NDIS) supplier faces a doable 15-year jail time period over the alleged misuse of $858,000 in firm funds.

    The accused, Byson James Kete Turner (Byson James Kete Attrill-Inexperienced), is a former director of Hyperlinks Help and Consulting Companies Pty Ltd. (Hyperlinks), an NDIS supplier, and has been charged with offences referring to transactions involving playing, lottery, and buying and selling platforms. 

    Turner accused of diverting funds to alleged betting accounts

    The Australian Securities and Investments Fee (ASIC) investigated Turner’s account exercise. 

    On account of the ASIC findings, Turner has been charged with eight counts of dishonestly utilizing his place as a director to realize a bonus, every carrying a most penalty of 15 years’ imprisonment, and two counts of failing to attend obligatory ASIC examinations, every punishable by as much as two years’ imprisonment.

    It has been alleged, between September 4, 2019, and July 18, 2022, Turner used his place as a director of Hyperlinks to “unlawfully make 2,782 separate transfers totalling $858,948 from Hyperlinks to the next (playing) accounts in his identify,” stated the ASIC report.

    The previous director was requested by the regulator to attend separate hearings and failed to take action. The report acknowledged that “on 10 Could 2024 and 30 Could 2024, Mr Turner did not adjust to a requirement made underneath the ASIC Act to attend two separate ASIC examinations when compelled to take action.” 

    Turner appeared at Perth Magistrates Court docket on February 6, 2026. The matter was adjourned till April 17, 2026, and is being prosecuted by the Workplace of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP).

    The playing operator accounts that Turner was led to carry included Sportsbet, Apple, TABTouch, NetLotto, LottoGo, Lotterywest, Oz Lotto and Plus500AU. ASIC reported that on February 14, 2023, Hyperlinks Help and Consulting Companies was positioned underneath the management of a liquidator.
