    PAGCOR chief Alejandro Tengco denies conflict allegations over family government contracts

    The playing watchdog (PAGCOR) for the Philippines is underneath hearth, as its CEO, Alejandro Tengco, has been accused of a battle of curiosity. It comes as Tengco’s household’s development agency managed to accumulate authorities contracts. The PAGCOR chief has refuted these claims, claiming that he has no direct affect on what the broader authorities does.

    Typically fairly strict on upholding the legislation, it’s no surprise that the PAGCOR chief has issued a press release on the matter. The corporate concerned, Nationstar Growth Company, was based by the chairman in 2015. It’s believed that his relationship with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., might need had some affect on the choice.

    The palace has now commented on the matter, with the Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro chatting with reporters: “If this went by the right course of and if this firm remains to be linked to Al Tengco, then we’ll simply base our evaluation on that.

    PAGCOR chief in scorching water over exposé

    The accusations stem from information outlet Rappler, which factors out that since Marcos Jr. took over from the Duterte administration, contracts have “greater than tripled”. Talking with Rappler, former finance undersecretary and funds knowledgeable Cielo Magno stated:

    “He isn’t absolved as a result of a head of a GOCC is a public official. Part 3(b) of Republic Act 3019 prohibits public officers from having a monetary or pecuniary curiosity in any enterprise that offers with the federal government.”

    The PAGCOR head stated: “As a legit enterprise entity, Nationstar has earlier and ongoing contracts with each the federal government and the non-public sector, together with many native authorities models.

    “These initiatives have established our goodwill or popularity within the trade and thus, the next initiatives awarded to us.”
